Samsung Micro RGB R95H Review: A Capable TV That Doesn’t Quite Wow
Micro RGB television technology promises something LED and OLED panels have struggled to deliver on their own: punchy, individually-driven red, green, and blue pixels instead of relying on a single white or blue backlight source. On paper, that should mean richer color and sharper contrast whether you’re watching a dim horror film or a fast-moving sports match.
Samsung’s entry into this space, the Micro RGB R95H, is a genuinely well-built television — it’s just not the dramatic step up in color performance that the underlying technology suggests it should be. At $3,200 for the 65-inch size, it also faces stiff pricing pressure from LG’s rival Micro RGB Evo, which starts at 75 inches for $4,500 (the 75-inch R95H matches that price exactly). Beyond the size mismatch, Samsung’s anti-glare coating turned out to be one of the set’s biggest weaknesses, muting picture quality in movies and certain games.
Setup and Physical Design
Getting the R95H up and running is refreshingly painless. It uses a single center pedestal stand that clicks into place in seconds without any tools or screws required. Because it’s one central foot rather than two legs at the edges, it can sit comfortably on narrower furniture — even though the 65-inch panel’s edges extended past the stand like wings, the whole unit stayed firmly planted.
Around back and to the side, you’ll find four HDMI inputs (one flagged specifically for gaming with a small controller icon, and one supporting eARC audio pass-through), a coaxial input for antenna or cable, an optical digital audio output, two USB-A ports, and a wired Ethernet jack. Gaming performance landed in solid-but-unspectacular territory compared to rival Micro RGB sets. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate for Xbox with low input lag, which made Subnautica 2 look vivid and fluid. Forza Horizon 6 also impressed, rendering a distant, colorful mountain highway through a convincing haze — and the anti-glare coating actually worked in the game’s favor here, making a white in-game car look less artificial. On PC, testing Crimson Desert at 165Hz through the gaming-labeled HDMI port produced decent, if unremarkable, results — noticeably better than using a standard 60Hz or 120Hz-limited port, but not a standout compared to competing panels.

Built-in speaker performance was underwhelming for dialogue-heavy content — a BritBox drama proved hard to follow until an external soundbar was connected, at which point clarity improved substantially. News broadcasts, on the other hand, looked sharp and clean, aided by the anti-glare panel.
